Prologue
this is a story of who we are,
our story,
a memoir of reflections,
an illumination of an interior less explored,
a meandering of collected meanings,
a story yet unfinished,
of spiritual beauty and magic,
of simultaneous truths,
a peering behind the veil of the world,
a revelation most devastating.
The works presented here must be experienced as,
a ”visceral document” of the author's journey inwards.
It starts with a simple question.
What does it mean to be insān - human?
Inspiration is found in the inherited wisdom,
of Sufi and Islamic thought.
Each of the series presented here is,
an investigation into a cluster of interrelated ideas,
the cohesive understanding of which gets us,
a little closer to the answer we seek.
The syntax of expression comes naturally;
one of space, form, depth, order and color.
Here the author lays bare his past;
He is the architect he was.
He hopes that the works will linger precariously,
in between object and space,
blurring the boundaries of the canvas.
The final destination is still space,
though not an external one;
Rather one that allows a more profound,
appreciation of our internal architecture.
